Our collaborations

Our commitment to Bologna:

"Succede Solo a Bologna"

A few months ago, we met the folks at "Succede Solo a Bologna" (which translates to "It Only Happens in Bologna"). Initially, we thought they mainly offered Bolognese dialect classes and themed comics, but we were wrong! They are actually a non-profit association founded in 2011 with the aim of promoting our city in all its forms, including the valorization and restoration of monuments and spaces in Bologna.

Currently, they are managing the Teatro di Villa Mazzacorati (a historic building from 1763) on Via Toscana. We want to assist them in making it a space for positive community engagement in the neighborhood they dream of creating. We've decided to contribute by hosting a donation-based event to support their cause. Furthermore, for every Extratina purchased, a portion of the proceeds will go towards the restoration of Villa Mazzacorati. We won't stop until we've restored every inch to its original splendor!

There's a lot of work to be done, including restoring lighting fixtures, frescoes, curtains and backdrops, the stage, historic seats, and side rooms.

Anima

We've long wanted to add fried tortellone to our menu, typically prepared for Carnival in Italy. As always, we wanted this initiative to have a purpose beyond the product itself.

"Anima" is a Social Cooperative in San Marino di Bentivoglio, where they manage a trattoria called Locanda Smeraldi. They employ young people with disabilities, offering them vocational training opportunities and involving them in various activities. It's their young people who prepare the sweet tortelloni filled with ricotta and chocolate for us. You can find them on our menu as a delightful dessert option!

Birra Indegno® was born out of a desire to pair our Crescentine with something different and unique.

So, we turned to the Vecchia Orsa Craft Social Brewery, located in the Bolognese hinterland, with whom we share the same production philosophy and a commitment to delivering the best quality.

We admire Vecchia Orsa's project for many reasons, all encapsulated in their name: "Social Brewery" because they've integrated employees with disabilities into their staff who actively collaborate in the production process; "Craft" because they use yeasts and aromas without adding additives, filtering, or pasteurizing processes, resulting in beers with a unique body and aroma.

From the close collaboration, our first three beers were born:

Piazza Maggiore | Blonde

A classic blonde beer with fruity notes and a hoppy taste.

Dedicated to Piazza Maggiore, the bustling heart of Bologna, which features the raised central part of the square called by locals the "Crescentone," reminiscent of our crescentine. Every summer, it hosts the Open-air Cinema, a cultural event dedicated to the most important and iconic films of recent and past years.

Sette Chiese | Tripel

You're holding a Tripel, a malted and full-bodied beer.

We named it "Sette Chiese" (literally "Seven Churches") after the architectural complex that forms the Basilica of Santo Stefano, one of Bologna's symbolic monuments. Its unique structure seemed like a fitting parallel to the intense and lasting flavor of this beer!

Pratello | Session IPA

A Session IPA, a fresh and hoppy beer.

Dedicated to Pratello one of Bologna's iconic streets. Amidst arcades, street art, cultural initiatives, and nightlife, over the years Pratello has carved out a space in the hearts of residents and tourists alike. With its citrusy taste and slightly bitter finish, it's perfect for enjoying the bohemian atmosphere typical of an evening in Pratello.

Ask us how to pair them with our crescentine for the perfect experience!

Our Commitment to the Environment:

Treedom

Since December 2022, we've been collaborating with Treedom, an Italian company specializing in conscious reforestation. They plant native species in various regions of the planet and donate the trees to local communities so they can use them as a resource.

In our small way we plant 8 trees each months into "La Grande Foresta del Reno", a virtual forest we've created! This way, we actively contribute to the reforestation of our planet!
